Our Mission

We're all about passion, pride, and happy customers! Customer satisfaction, good vibes, smiles, getting things done, etc... that's Sokolowski's in a nutshell! We strive to offer the highest quality plants, always made available to our community at a reasonable price. I guess you could say we're plant driven above anything else. We simply love nature and want to share it with you.

Our mission is to out-grow ourselves every year, no mater how good or bad the actual growing climate is! Consistent quality is a must, which is why we never cut corners  We go out of our way and take the extra steps to make our crop shine and thrive, because we want our customers to feel proud to come back year after year for the most dynamic selection and healthiest plants around! We hope to continue earning our reputation in the community as the "plant candy store!" We appreciate all our customers and look forward to serving you for many more years to come.

Early in the 1970s, Sokolowski's founder, Bernard P. Sokolowski, and his wife, Benita, purchased a farmhouse and a plot of land with an old barn and a few dilapidated greenhouses. This is where Bernard first began growing and eventually selling vegetable plants. The demand for his vegetable plants and soon-to-follow flowers continued to grow, so Bernard kept up with the demand by continuing to expand. Sokolowski's now boasts 19 very full greenhouses (and growing)!

Bernard’s main focus was on growing annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetable plants. He believed in growing one hundred percent of what he sold. He refused to buy from wholesalers to resell because he wanted to give his customers the highest quality and variety of plants at a reasonable cost.

The business continued to grow and by the late 1990’s, he was retailing and wholesaling his own plants. It was at this time that his son, Gregory, also began working with the growing and production at the greenhouses. Gregory studied horticulture at SUNY Cobleskill but believes he learned the most from his father, and that becoming a successful grower happens with hands on experience working with plants from germination through maturity.

Today, our family team continues to grow the best annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetable plants, along with beautiful planters and hanging baskets! We're proud to serve you.

We hope you'll stop in soon to check it out.

Growing Practices

Here at Sokolowski's Greenhouses, we're defying the odds. Scientifically speaking, it was said we won’t even be able to grow plants here.

We didn't listen. Through passion, education, and patience, we are proud to have over 19 greenhouses full of plants thriving in their environment every season.

We accomplished this through traditional style growing, using natural air, minimal fan usage, as well as roll up sides and natural vents in our houses.

Everything here has a personal touch. It's not an exaggeration to say that every single plant, thousands upon thousands each yearindividually passes under our eyes for inspection. This is custom-tailored growing at its finest. No bulk, generic, careless growing here!
