About Us
Sokolowski’s Greenhouses was born in the early 1970’s when Bernard P. Sokolowski and his wife Benita purchased a farmhouse and a plot of land on Grooms Road in Clifton Park. On the land was an old barn with a few dilapidated greenhouses where Bernard first began growing and selling vegetable plants. With each year as the demand for his vegetable plants and then flowers continued to grow, Bernard kept up with the demand by continuing to expand.

Bernard’s main focus was on growing annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetable plants. He believed in growing one hundred percent of what he sold. He refused to buy from wholesalers to resell because he wanted to give his customers the highest quality and variety of plants at a reasonable cost.
The business continued to grow and by the late 1990’s, he was retailing and wholesaling his plants. At this time, his son Gregory also began working with the growing and production at the greenhouses. He studied horticulture at SUNY Cobleskill but believes he learned the most from his father and that becoming a successful grower happens with hands on experience working with plants from germination through maturity.
